BREAKING: Scott Schenter arrested as Noguez investigation continues

By Randy Economy
An arrest has been made in the criminal probe into pay to play allegations at the Los Angeles County Assessor’s Office this morning, and many more are expected....
Just got this note from LA County DA Steve Cooley...

Los Angeles County District Attorney Steve Cooley said that a former appraiser with the county Assessor’s Office was arrested today for allegedly falsifying department documents and unlawfully lowering property values by $172 million.
Scott Schenter, who worked from 1988 to early 2011 as a county appraiser, allegedly slashed values on multi-million dollar homes, condos and businesses in Beverly Hills, Brentwood and Pacific Palisades. Schenter allegedly secured campaign contributions from the owners of those homes and business for Assessor John Noguez.
Schenter, 49, was arrested this morning in Beaverton, Ore. He is being held on $1.5 million bail.
“The magnitude of Schenter’s suspected betrayal of public trust is almost inconceivable,” Cooley said in a prepared statement. “We believe his actions are not isolated.”
Schenter’s arrest is part of an investigation launched last year by the D.A.’s Public Integrity Division into allegations that Noguez and several of his staff had reduced property values for wealthy clients of Ramin Salari, a tax consultant and campaign contributor to Noguez.
“This investigation is active, ongoing and multi-faceted,” Cooley said.
Deputy District Attorney Susan Schwartz filed a felony complaint for arrest warrant Wednesday, charging Schenter with 60 felony counts, including 30 counts of falsifying accounts and 30 counts of falsifying records. Schwartz said refund checks were issued to property owners in counts 1-30. In counts 31-60, devaluations were reversed before refunds could be issued.
The unauthorized reductions were discovered by Schenter’s supervisor in January 2011.
Arraignment information for Schenter will be announced later. If convicted, he faces up to 33 years in state prison.
Los Cerritos Community Newspaper will have additional details throughout the day.

It can be quite dangerous to be involved in video gaming. There's a lot of danger and evil lurking in each and every corner. In this article, we will give you good advice on how to get the most out of the time you have for video games. We will also share some innovative recommendations and tricks. Continue below.

If you have trouble taking breaks while gaming, start a 30-minute timer. If you continuously sit there and play all day long, it can make your body really tires and harm your body, which ends up causing you problems to your health in the future. A timer is a reminder to put the game on pause and take some time off.

IF you want to find discount games for kids, look at sales in your area. Some video rental businesses are hurting now. Keep your eyes open, and you may see stores that are going out of business and offering merchandise at steep discounts. Usually the discs are still good but may need a cleaning.

Trade games with people you know. These games cost a lot and you probably want to spend money on other things sometimes. Chat with friends to find out if you can swap games with them, and everyone can play a new game for free.

Should you have a ps3 repaired or just get a new one? If you break your system, then you should consider upgrading, not repairing it. That's because the cost you will incur from the repair could exceed the cost of purchasing a brand new system. Consider upgrading your current system, or check out an all new gaming system. You're going to have to get a new one eventually. You might as well do it now.

Buy used games. New video games can cost more than fifty dollars. Spending that amount of money only to find out that the game isn't your cup of tea is a costly mistake. If you buy used, you may be able to get 25 percent to 50 percent off of a game that you are interested in.

With a game that's fairly popular it can be tempting to buy everything out there for it like expansions and upgrades right when you begin playing. This can be expensive! Try maintaining discipline. Wait until you have played through the game before purchasing additional content.

Think about going to a gaming arcade in another town. Some people just like to game at home using personal consoles. But it can be fun to get out of the house and join in the communal activities that an arcade offers. You can socialize and take friends with you. You can meet new people with similar interests.

When someone wants to purchase a gaming console, there are plenty of choices. Be sure to research and read reviews before deciding which system you prefer. It is important to know if the company carries a majority of titles that your family will enjoy. When you have chosen a system, look at how much memory this system has. There are many download options for most games and this content can fill a hard drive quickly. To make sure, buy a system that has enough memory.

Buying a new game is tougher than you may think. You might waste a lot of money on a game you end up hating. Read game reviews before making a purchase.

Figure out how to operate the safety and parental controls of any gaming system that comes into your home. You can likely make adjustments that keep kids from viewing mature content. Some allow each gaming profile to be customized separately, allowing adults to enjoy games not meant for younger audiences.

Online gaming can offer you a world of adventure, relaxation and excitement. You can also learn lots of new things as well as being a winner at whatever game you are playing! Whatever genre you prefer, apply what you've just learned and have a better time.
