STATEMENT TO MEDIA: LA School Police Investigating Threat at all LAUSD schools, LASD Assisting Los Angeles School Police Department has requested the assistance of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department to assist in a search operation of all Los Angeles Unified School District schools after an unspecified threat was received. As a precaution, all LAUSD schools are closed for today. UPDATE 7:36 a.m.: All campuses at the Los Angeles Unified School District have been closed due to threats. This is incredible. I am watching this unfold right now with the rest of you right here in our community. Praying for the children, staff, teachers. How did we get here...

The decision to close the campuses was made by Superintendent Ramon Contines and LAUSD Board of Education President Steve Zimmer. A

ll 900 campuses are closed.

Here is a HOTLINE NUMBER....1 213 241 2064 Zimmer told KTLA: "This is a serious threat!" "We get threats everyday...this is different." "It is going to be a long day. A threat came in overnight. Please keep your kids at home. This is historic," Zimmer said.
